Q & A
What is Google Slides?
As we mentioned above, Google Slides is Google’s version of a presentation software, which integrates effortlessly with its other document systems, such as Google Docs and Google Sheets. With Google Slides, users are free to design their own presentations and customize it to their liking. On top of that, it features a robust real-time collaboration tool that lets teams edit their presentations instantly.
Do you need to pay to use Google Slides?
Primarily speaking, Google Slides is a free software to use for anyone that has a Google account. However, even though it already features a complete tool set, large corporations might still experience limitations. That is why they opt to purchase a subscription from Google Workspace, formerly known as G Suite, where they can find the Slides solution, which is quite similar to Google Slides, but with more solutions. Nonetheless, you cannot purchase Slides on its own; you need to subscribe to the entire platform. That said, these pricing options are the Business Starter plan ($6/user/month), the Business Standard plan ($12/user/month), the Business Plus plan ($18/user/month), and the Enterprise plan, which Google only provides a quote based pricing system for it.
Does Google Slides have a free trial?
As we discussed above, Google Slides is a free software to use. However, if your team needs additional functionality, you can opt for its premium version, Slides. If you are reluctant to commit to a monthly subscription, Google offers a free 14-day trial period. On top of that, you also do not need to provide your credit card information to avail of the free trial
Is Google Slides safe to use?
Although all Google document systems, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides, do not feature individual password protection systems in place, they are still protected by Google’s servers. This means that they are quite secure platforms, and other people will not see your files, unless you decide to share your account to other users
Can you convert a Google Slides file to a PowerPoint file?
Yes! All that you need to do is download your Google Slides file from your Google Drive. The first step is to open a specific Google Slides file that you wish to convert. Then the second step is to click the File tab, click the Download option, and then select Microsoft PowerPoint
Which is better: Google Slides or PowerPoint?
In terms of usability, both Google Slides and PowerPoint have the same level of intuitiveness. However, that is where the similarities stop. The better overall choice is PowerPoint, since it offers much more extensive feature sets. And, you can also use it without an internet connection
Reviews
4.5/5 (overall) - Parker B.
Pros:
- In using this product, we are able to have all of our team members review and edit presentations which makes presentations easier to prepare.
- Especially because we all are often unable to coordinate our schedules to be together at the same time, we find specific value in these features
Cons:
- PPT file on a computer may have different formatting and may not transfer easily into the Google Slides format.
- This lack of interoperability is one of a small few weak areas in the software.
3.5/5 (overall) - Deynisha P.
Pros:
- This software allows you to create school o business presentations, it has so many features to decorate your design, it even has lots of wonderful templates to choose from.
- You can add animations to you images or texts, and you can also add transitions to your slides. Another thing that I absolutely love, is the option to create your presentation along with your peer! At the same time!
Cons:
- However I do feel like it is missing lots of features to further personalize your presentation. Like having a timer to switch between slides.
- Being able to get rid of an images background or even add sounds on the mobile app etc
4/5 (overall) - Caroline C.
Pros:
- I love that this product is online and that it can be used by several people at the same time. If you are doing a project and your team members are in other places, it is easy to work online with each other.
- You can comment, make changes and work as though you are side by side. You can use Google Slides wherever you are – no problem if you forgot to email to it yourself.
Google Slides is a fantastic software for small to mid-sized teams. Nevertheless, a few of its features are the ones that can hinder a fantastic user experience. With this said, Google Slides relies heavily on an internet connection. This means that you cannot access your or a presentation if you are not connected to the internet. Aside from that, Google Slides, when compared to other established solutions, lacks a few features that may be essential to large businesses.
