10+ Solarwinds Alternatives and Competitors

Solarwinds

SolarWinds is one of the most popular database and application management platforms of today. As a matter of fact, SolarWinds has more than 300,000 active users, making them as the second most used software, only lagging behind Oracle RDBMS. Aside from that, they currently have over 2,500 employees and 3,000 reviews online. This proves the point of SolarWinds’ popularity, which came a long way, since their establishment in 1999. After that, they slowly created the company that they are now – a company that earns approximately $1 billion every year. The corporation is led by Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Thompson, along with a few key employees, including Ludovic Neveu (Software Sales Executive), Paul Gray (R&D), and James Mebane (Regional Account Director).
All of these factors contribute to the robustness of the SolarWinds application. However, since it is not the only one in the industry, it might be best to know of its competitors before purchasing one of their price plans. These companies include Oracle RDBMS, Knack, Amazon Aurora, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Improvado, MySQL, MongoDB, Teradata, and IBM DB2. “ A mature, customization monitoring solution ”
- Very mature product, with lots of pre-built templates and features.
- It’s very flexible and easy to customize.
- Upgrades can be tricky and time-consuming (especially if you have other Orion products installed along with NPM). It seems like SolarWinds is really focusing on improving this.
- It’s Windows-only (which may or may not be an issue for your organization).
“ SolarWinds Network "Magnificent Performance" Monitor ”
- Providing detailed and high-level views of network device and infrastructure performance
- Providing an intuitive and informative user interface
- SolarWinds is an expensive platform with steep initial and recurring costs (if maintenance/update services are purchased).
- The amount of information in the Orion interface can be intimidating if you don’t know what specific information you’re looking for.
