Overview

As a software, MySQL is a superb open-source database management platform that only offers high-end solutions. As a corporation, though, MySQL is one of the industry-leading software companies of today. Joining them are Oracle RDBMS, Knack, Amazon Aurora, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Improvado, MongoDB, Solarwinds, Teradata, and IBM DB2. Aside

from that, MySQL currently has over 400 employed, and it also has over 2,000 online reviews scattered all over the internet. They also earn around $5.4 million in yearly revenue. This is huge thanks to their CEO, Marten Mickos, and three other key employees. These are Michel Gerin as Senior Director, Alan Martin as Sales Director, and Mark Burns as Technical Sales Representative. That said, MySQL is definitely a software that you would need. However, you should know that the app lacks a robust developing and debugging tool. And, it also has restrictions with SQL. Because of these factors, it might be best that you look at the other companies mentioned above. You can start right away by scrolling down. See what those other platforms can offer that MySQL cannot.

Reviews

“ Great for storing diagnostics and using for data analytics ”

4.4/5 (overall) - Verified Reviewer
Pros:
  • What I like best about MySQL is the fact that, despite it being open-source and free, it forms the foundation of the popular LAMP stack used by so many open-source developers.
  • So, even though not fully featured with the most amazing technologies, I think it is solid, simple and affordable for a lot of projects.
Cons:
  • This was a bit vexing as we would have small deadlines to meet yet we were unable to do anything because of the server.
  • I worked with MySql since 2004, problem only was with the backup. If something wrong with db.

“ MySQL the default database server ”

4.5/5 (overall) - Verified Reviewer
Pros:
  • There are good tools to manage databases and tables whether it is a local test server or a remote version. It’s a good thing to know and a great way to start learning how to store and manipulate data.
  • This tool works very good with the databases and is very old tool so it is very stable. Very great help is available online on the forums and documentation, if someone is stuck.
Cons:
  • Sometimes it gives meaningless error messages where the error is at another line but it mentions a wrong line number. Mysql server gone away error.
  • Error syntax’s are a bit unclear, which can make error handling a headache. Also MySQL is a relational database, which means you have to create an Entity Relationship Diagram before you create it.

“ Still good after lots of years ”

4.3/5 (overall) - Adonay Andres A.
Pros:
  • Once the mysql query language is learned, it is an awesome way to quickly query data and get all of the information desired. Functions are also extremely useful for linking data together that doesn’t use the same primary key to link the data together.
  • MySQL is a great to database and is very very powerfull I use it everyday on my work when I develop web applications for my clients MySQL is reliable and have some great admistration tools with great value MySQL works very good and uses less system resources than other similar softwares
Cons:
  • Like all querying languages, the language is initially hard to learn, but once it’s learned, it’s a great utility.
  • MySQL have all that I need to do my work perfect with less cost than others similar softwares MySQL works great for web applications, with good performance
